The desire to take photos of mommas with their babies is what fuels me in this photography journey. There is just something so special about the connection between a mother and her children. It is a honor every time a woman chooses to be IN the photos with her kids. I know how uncomfortable it can be to be in front of the camera, but it’s really pretty easy. All you have to do it love your babies and get to capture the beauty.

This is still one of my favorite sessions to date. This family wrote letters to each other and then read them to each other. The emotions were real and raw and so special. It was for sure a session I’ll never forget.

Newborn sessions always involve the whole family. Siblings and pets are always welcome. These sessions are so personal and unique to each family and that is why I love them so much. As always it is a honor to be invited into your home and get a little glimpse of life inside your walls. It is not lost on me how intimidating it is to have a “stranger” in your home. The details of HOME. They can bring back so many memories. How things smelled and sounded and felt as your walked through familiar doorways or sat in the breakfast nook for coffee. I loved this casual and authentic maternity session. Can you believe it was 75 degrees on Tuesday?! It was the perfect evening at Ijams and these two killed their session. You really just have to love each other and trust the process, even if it may feel weird for a second or two. I can’t wait to meet their sweet babe.

Here’s a few things you can count on if you book an newborn session with me:

- it will always be in the comfort of your home (and no your home does not have to be perfect in every corner, I just need a few good windows).
- the photos will include your whole fam, not just the new baby.
- your pets are always welcome
- jumping on the beds is encouraged
- capturing other rooms in the home is so fun

If there is ONE piece of advice that I would want you to really take to heart, it would be to just let your kids be kids during your photo session. If they want to take their shoes off, it’s ok! If they are shy and need extra time buried in your arms, it’s ok! If they are chatter boxes and want to talk my ear off, it’s ok! If they just fell and have a scraped up face, it’s ok! If they have a melt down and need a snack, it’s ok! (I always recommend bringing some snacks)

We are not aiming for perfect robot children here. I want to capture the true essence of who they are and I’m a safe place for them to be themselves. Mommas, all you have to do is keep smiling and enjoy your kids. I promise we can make some magic together.

Don’t be afraid of a winter session. You’ll stay warm with equal amounts of snuggles and running around like crazy. I even worked up a sweat doing this one.

Family session down by the river at Davey Crocket Birth Place. This is also the place these two got married. I’m so so glad we got these photos done when we did because after the hurricane and floods it will never be the same.

Can I make it a requirement that all first birthday celebrations are done at home with handmade crowns and strawberry cake …. Because gosh, this was just the best. I love how each image is full of memories, the way their first house looked at Christmas time, the kind of highchair they used, the special birthday crown handmade by mom, what her nursery looked like. It’s all the little details that will trigger memories in the future that mean so much to me.

I am so grateful to work with amazing clients who share the same vision as me and value photography as an art and tool to remember.

Started off 2025 in the very best way with an amazing session celebrating @_tash.o and Cameron’s engagement. They make each other light up and it was so fun to be with them. What?!! How amazing is this little video by my friend @mjhankins. She came with me to shoot @emma.saucemann senior session and did some little bts clips of our time together. It made me a little emotional to be completely honest. This time of year is tough. The schedule is full with both work and family stuff and it can feel really overwhelming sometimes. But to be on the other side of the camera and SEE the joy that photography and connecting with people brings me was such a great reminder for why I do what I do. @emma.saucemann you are stunning and so amazing to work with the @mjhankins thanks for refueling my fire.

Here I am, jumping back on the insta after a huge long break. As I looked back on what I had post over the years I got an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the people I have met and friendships I have made through photography. What a gift!
